Protecting Churches Against Natural Disaster

The new frames and protective covering Bovard Studio fabricated and installed for St. Michael’s in Kingsley, Iowa look stunning on the church’s exterior.  40+ windows received our 1400 Series vented perimeter US Patented frames with exterior glazing designed for the preservation of stained glass windows.

Stunning New Stained Glass Frame for Lisbon United Methodist Church

A massive compound gothic frame has been custom built with a thermal-barrier aluminum frame with Bovard Studio’s US patented ventilation system designed for the preservation of stained glass windows and installed for Lisbon United Methodist Church in Iowa. The skilled field crew from Bovard Studio carefully operate heavy equipment to lower the frame pieces into the opening.  The frame will then receive both interior and exterior heavy wood cladding.  Afterward, the restored stained glass panels will be installed one by one.


Stained Glass Protection for Ithaca First Unitarian Society

The First Unitarian Society in Ithaca received frame restoration services from Bovard Studio, including Bovard Studio’s US Patented 1430 Vented Precision Flow® Perimeter Framing System. The windows’ internal venting system will help the church cut energy usage and reduce their carbon footprint as it prevents the heat build-up resulting from the heat absorbing properties of colored stained glass exaggerating the stained glass window’s  expansion and contraction cycles and allows condensation to escape preserving the stained glass window for future generations.

Bovard Studio Continues Window Installation in Rough Weather

Winter weather hit hard this week, but we still managed to continue our operations for window restoration for St. Michael in Staunton, IL. New protective covering was installed for over 40 beautiful stained glass windows, which will keep them shining through troublesome weather for decades to come.

Whimsical Stained Glass Restoration Transformation

Stained glass windows for Kountze Memorial continue their restoration transformation. Here is a beautiful panel featuring a winged Ox, a symbol of one of the Four Evangelists: Luke. The animal symbols of the Four Evangelists are referred to as the Tetramorph, which can be found in sacred texts and stained glass windows like these.

A Bright Future for Stained Glass

The symbolic stained glass windows of First Baptist in Jackson, MS were restored by Bovard Studio in 2016. Their historic wood frames underwent restoration with improved ventilation thanks to our 1400 series US patented Precision Flow® ventilation system.

Tiffany Windows Reborn at Bovard Studio

Bovard Studio has a track record of restoring historical Tiffany windows, so it came naturally to create a window from scratch to emulate one of Tiffany’s angel windows. This window was custom-designed, built, and installed for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salem, VA.

Bovard Hires Excellence in Stained Glass

Bovard Studio welcomes a Production Assistant with extensive experience in stained glass— Alesha Hall hailing from New York. Alesha has explored many art mediums and spent time as an educator in art history, graphic design, and photography. She dabbled in painting, illustration, ceramics, and metalworking, but nothing compares to the engrossing challenges and sense of accomplishment she finds in the medium of stained glass. Alesha enjoys the rich history embedded in stained glass and joins the ranks of many dedicated to preserving this wondrous art form.
